NOTICE OF ELECTION
Parliamentary Election
for the
NORTH WEST ESSEX
PARLIAMENTARY CONSTITUENCY
1. An Election is to be held of One Member of Parliament for North West Essex parliamentary
constituency.
2. Forms of nomination for the Parliamentary Election may be obtained at Council Offices,
London Road, Saffron Walden, Essex, CB11 4ER from the Acting Returning Officer who will, at
the request of an elector for any electoral area prepare a nomination paper for signature.
3. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Acting Returning Officer, Council Offices, London
Road, Saffron Walden, Essex, CB11 4ER on any day after the date of this notice between the
hours of 10 am and 4 pm but no later than 4 pm on Friday, 7th June 2024.
4. A deposit of £500 must be paid by each candidate. The deposit may be made either by any
legal tender (pounds sterling), by means of a banker’s draft (from a drawer which carries on
business as a banker in the United Kingdon) or, with the Acting Returning Officer’s consent, by
debit or credit card (except American Express or Electron) or by the direct electronic transfer of
funds.
5. If any election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday, 4th July 2024.
6. The last day to submit an application to be included on the electoral register to be used at this
election is midnight on Tuesday 18th June 2024. Applications can also be made online
www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. For electors voting in polling stations there is a legal requirement
to take a prescribed form of photographic identification to vote. A full list of the prescribed forms
of photographic identification is available on the local authority’s website. For those who require
a Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Elector Document to meet the requirement for
photographic identification, applications can be made at www.voter-authoritycertificate.service.gov.uk/.
7. Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes and amendments or cancellations of
proxy votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Council Offices, London Road,
Saffron Walden, Essex, CB11 4ER by 5 pm on Wednesday, 19th June 2024.

8. New applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer
at Council Offices, London Road, Saffron Walden, Essex, CB11 4ER by 5 pm on Wednesday,

9. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on grounds of physical incapacity; for
work/service reasons or the form of acceptable photographic identification that you were
intending to use to vote has been lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed, or has not yet been
received if applied for recently, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Council Offices,
London Road, Saffron Walden, Essex, CB11 4ER by 5 pm on Thursday, 4th July 2024. The
physical incapacity must have occurred after 5 pm on Wednesday, 26th June 2024. To apply
on the grounds of work/service, the person must have become aware that they cannot go to
the polling station in person after 5 pm on Wednesday, 26th June 2024
