Red Cow: Your Views

We have received a good number of responses to our recent letter re. the Red Cow shop. Please do continue to send your views to the PC up to April 30th. The names and email addresses of residents submitting comments via the website contact form will be redacted before comments are submitted to UDC. Your comments will be submitted to UDC in confidence.
In our response to UDC, Chrishall Parish Council will respect and reflect the majority decision of parishioners. If residents want Chrishall to retain its current status as a rural, agricultural village, it is important to think very carefully about what planners term ‘sustainable infrastructure, which includes the provision of a food shop. If, on the other hand, the majority want the shop to remain and are unconcerned about any potential development, then parishioners need to come forward and be prepared to contribute to the decision-making around this. As you will be aware, Chrishall Parish Council has several vacancies and we would be delighted if people come forward and support us in taking decisions based on the majority comments.
In advising residents of the issues surrounding planning decisions, Chrishall Parish Council relies on a wealth of knowledge accumulated through results of planning applications, appeals, involvement with the development of the UDC Local Plan, attendance at numerous planning and Parish meetings hosted by UDC, and conversations with District Councillors and planning officers. Whilst the 2005 UDC Local Plan and the NPPF do not specify what makes a place sustainable for development, the results of appeals clearly do. We would be happy to direct interested residents to recent planning decisions that show quite evidently that this is the case.
